The Monthly Report

July-August 2010

With the hot days of July and August, the Striped Bass will continue to move out into deeper, cooler water. Downrod fishing, that is fishing straight down with live bait, or double anchoring your boat and bottom fishing cut-bait in 50 to 80 feet of water will be the best way to catch Stripers as Summer continues. Deep water trolling crank baits or bucktails will also be effective. Stripers will sometimes come up schooling at the surface for short periods around the last week of August. Casting Topwater lures such as Zara Spooks and Creek Chubs will provide some great fun. Don't bust the schools! Look for schools of fish on your sonar from Shull island to the dam. Use some common sense and courtesy and don't be a cling-on. I run a family oriented business, everyone has an equal chance of catching Stripers, and I've got plenty of shade on my boat, plus front and side curtains when the weather turns wet. Thanks to all my customers for a great summer!!

Above all else don't get on top of someone else who's catching fish, you'll just scare off the school and nobody catches anything then. If you work at it you can find your own fish. Remember to keep a courteous distance between yourself and other fisherman that are trying to catch fish too. Hire me for a fishing charter and I'll teach you.

   Good luck !

Look at the fish from this week here. You better call us soon if you want to in get on some good fishing!
